Why I chose this program/location for my training

Trinity Health Grand Rapids has an excellent infectious diseases pharmacy residency program that offers amazing experiences in the field. It is very involved with practice guiding/changing research and provides the chance to interact in certain niche areas, such as HIV clinics and tuberculosis clinics.

Additionally, as my career interests involve academia, the program has ties to Ferris State University's College of Pharmacy. I will have the opportunity to teach students in the classroom and on rotation.

Hobbies/interests outside of work

Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, cooking and baking bread.

Why I chose this program/location for my training

I chose Trinity Health Grand Rapids for PGY-2 residency because of the diverse experiences available, the strong culture of stewardship present at the institution and the excellent relationship the infectious disease team has with other specialties in the health system. The opportunities to get involved in teaching and precepting were also a big draw to the program.

I'm looking forward to continuing to build on my skills with the team here!

Hobbies/interests outside of work

In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and skiing, reading/watching anything related to science fiction/fantasy, listening to music and playing video games.

Why I chose this program/location for my training

I chose to pursue a PGY2 in infectious diseases at Saint Mary’s because the new program has everything I am looking for in my training experience and aligned with my ultimate goals. The variety of rotations offered with a focus on ID, multidisciplinary rounding, precepting and strong research are all opportunities that I look forward to participating in.

I am excited to learn from and work alongside the pharmacy staff and providers here at Saint Mary’s this year!

Hobbies/interests outside of work

In my free time I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I also enjoy spending time outside when the weather is nice, running and working out, and watching sports.

Why I chose this program/Grand Rapids for my training

I was first introduced to Mercy Health Saint Mary's in pharmacy school during a direct introductory pharmacy practice experience. I absolutely loved the relationships that the pharmacists had with the physicians, and how well they were able to work as a team. Additionally, the pharmacy staff is exceedingly welcoming and approachable to support a successful learning environment.

Lastly, the program is extremely organized with clear expectations; several of my questions were addressed in the residency manual, which allowed me to ask questions and discover more about specific rotations. I quickly identified that Saint Mary's PGY1 aligned perfectly with my professional interests.

Hobbies

My favorite thing to do outside of pharmacy is spend time with my family. Some of the things I enjoy most are playing card/board games and taking small vacations; anything that allows us to slow down and appreciate the little moments in life. I also love almost anything around water such as going to the beach, tubing or relaxing on a boat.
